Prices, ratings and review counts from our October 2026 data check; operators use seasonal pricing, so treat them as the shape of the market, not a quote.

Glenorchy

Queenstown NZ puts Glenorchy 45 km and 45 minutes away, at the head of Lake Wakatipu, and an entrance to the Te Wāhipounamu World Heritage Area. The tours take you there and into the valleys beyond, some named by the operators as film locations.

Skippers Canyon

Tourism New Zealand says Skippers Road was built between 1883 and 1890 in the gold rush, and that rental car companies do not allow their cars on it. A tour is the practical way in.

Doubtful Sound and Stewart Island

Doubtful Sound from Queenstown is a long day, about 13 hours; from Te Anau or Manapouri it is much shorter. Glenorchy Air’s flight to Stewart Island has only five reviews, so treat its rating as a small sample. See Doubtful or Milford Sound.
